About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Manager to provide dedicated financial support to the Performance Garage. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management and a deep understanding of non-profit accounting. This role requires twice weekly in-person work days with the Performance Garage team and a commitment to maintaining financial confidentiality and trust.
Key Actions:
● Financial Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including income, expenses, investments, and assets.
Ensure all expenses are properly tracked and categorized on our Quickbooks program
Manage and process Accounts Payable
Process bi-weekly payroll (through ADP) and employee benefit allocations
● Monitor Invoices for Accounts Receivable Collections
Perform monthly bank reconciliations, working with staff to identify and resolve any discrepancies
● Deposit checks weekly
● Arrange petty cash needs for staff & artists
● Process artist renters’ ticket receipts through Eventbrite & artist security deposits after performances are completed
Coordinate with fundraising team regarding A/R and A/P for fundraising events
Assist Executive & Managing Director in preparing budget reports (see more in ‘Additional Duties’)
Prepare financial reports for grants and other ad hoc reports as needed
Prepare tax and year-end 1099s
Assist PG staff and auditors with year-end tax & audit preparations
Additional Duties & Responsibilities:
● Budget Management: Develop, monitor, and adjust budgets to ensure that financial goals and objectives are met. Provide financial reports for each board meeting based on past templates, attend eight yearly board meetings, and provide insight and analysis to both the Performance Garage Executive Director and its Board of Directors.
● Banking and Investment Transactions: Oversee and facilitate banking deposits working with the Development Director closely.
● Performance Garage Relationship: Establish a close working relationship with the PG Team, especially the Interim Managing Director/Development Director, the Rental Manager, and Production Manager. Schedule and conduct weekly one-on-one meetings to discuss financial matters, review progress, and address any concerns.
● Confidentiality: Maintain the utmost level of confidentiality and trust in all financial matters.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is a plus.
Proven experience in non-profit financial management.
Proficiency in Excel and Quickbooks for budgeting, investment tracking, and reporting.
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving and communication skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
High ethical standards and ability to handle sensitive financial information.
Salary Range:
This is a part-time position that requires fifteen hours a week over two days preferably. Tuesday is a required day to work with the PG team of five staff members, otherwise somewhat flexible on additional hours.
Hourly range is between $27 to $30 dollars an hour.
Benefits are free tickets to any desired Performance Garage concerts.
Team has the week off between Christmas and New Year’s.

Performance Garage, a non-profit dance center and theater, is in its 24th year of serving the Philadelphia dance community whose mission is to create an environment that nurtures dance artists and facilitates the building of a broader audience for dance in Philadelphia. We serve approximately twenty thousand people per year. As an incubator and hub for local dance talent, the Performance Garage offers subsidized rental rates for artists to host their classes, workshops, rehearsals, and performances, as well as a free a fter-school dance program for youth.
